The comedy from celebrated playwright Theresa Rebeck from theREP
Critically lauded American playwright Theresa Rebeck fuses her knack for challenging characters, witty dialogue and conjuring fresh theatrical perspectives with the sizzling heat and high pressures of the professional kitchen environment in Seared, served up by theREP this fall, kicking off its 2024/25 season.
Premiering in San Francisco in 2016, Seared was met with rave reviews thanks to its lightning-fast pace, rapid-fire repartee and insightful humor, which all collide in a poignant portrait of love, frustration and the fine art of food.

When Harry wins adoration from an important food magazine for his signature scallop dish, his restaurant partner Mike can finally see dollar signs and a way out from financial straits. But the stubborn Harry refuses to recreate the dish for the average diner and the hot-button conversation of art versus commerciality begins...
